After forming partnership with Best Buy, Vivint Smart Home has struck another deal with Sprint, the fourth largest mobile carrier in the United States. Sprint will start to sell Vivint products in 16 stores in Missouri, Utah, Arizona and Ohio, according to a report by Wave7 Research. Sprint hopes to extend the products to 80 stores nationwide by the end of the year.

Sprint now has the opportunity to bundle smartphones sales with smart home devices, which cover many categories, from security cameras, thermostats to garage door controllers.

“Currently, Sprint is conducting such a trial and selling Vivint smart home services in a handful of retail stores across the country. As with all trials, once it is over, we will analyze the results and determine next steps,” said Kathleen Dunleavy, manager of corporate communications at Sprint.

Vivint offers a basic bundle of smart home devices such as cameras and motion sensors for US$40. A more inclusive service to include doorbell cameras costs US$50.

Sprint is not the first U.S. carrier to enter the smart home space. Verizon is already selling smart home devices on its website, including Google Home and products from Nest, Philips Hue and Honeywell. Meanwhile, AT&T also has Digital Life business which is estimated to have around 400,000 users and available in 80 markets in the U.S.

It’s not Vivint’s first partnership with retailers. Earlier this year, the company teamed up with Best Buy to sell smart home products and consultation services to customers.

The deal brought Vivint experts into more than 400 of Best Buy stores nationwide by the end of this summer. Vivint gives customized advices on smart home devices and installation, for smart locks, lighting, security cameras, thermostats, among others.
