IKEA has debuted two Bluetooth speakers for the U.S. and UK markets, adding a new product line to its smart home portfolio.
IKEA has debuted two Bluetooth speakers for the U.S. and UK markets, adding a new product line to its smart home portfolio.
The connected speakers, named ENEBY , come in two sizes – the portable 8×8-inch model with a carrying handle and the larger 12×12-inch version.
Just like other products from IKEA, the speakers have the minimalist design – with just one knob on the front to turn the speaker on or off, and to adjust the bass or treble. Users may also remove the mesh front panel to better fit in various home decor.
The ENEBY series supports music-playing via Bluetooth or a 3.5mm AUX cable. The smaller model costs US$49 and the bigger one costs US$89.
The Swedish company also introduced a couple of accessories for the speaker line, including a battery pack that adds up to 10 hours of battery life, a speaker stand and a wall bracket to mount the speaker on the wall.
Meanwhile, IKEA is collaborating with Teenage Engineering on the design of a new audio project, which was first announced in June 2017 and related products like turntable, party lighting and electronic choir will be released in early 2019.
This is not the first time IKEA waded into smart home technologies. Since the launch of a series of furniture integrated with wireless chargers, the company has further debuted wireless bulbs and smart lighting kits.
IKEA’s smart lighting products work with popular smart home platforms such as Apple Homekit and Amazon Alexa.
However, the company didn’t reveal plans to integrate smart assistants like Alexa or Google Assistant into its new speaker line, like some third-party speaker manufacturers have done.
