Riding on the rising smart trend in the hospitality industry, Honeywell has released a new thermostat called the INNCOM e7 for hotel rooms.

With built-in Amazon Alexa, the e7 allows hotel guests to adjust room temperatures and lightings and control other connected devices with their voice. As the Amazon voice assistant gains consumer awareness over time, the voice control interface will seem natural for guests.

For general control, the e7 features an easy-to-understand user interface to give straightforward control on room temperatures and others. It also supports technologies from other hospitality service providers including Crave and Intelity, so that users can control the entire room from a designated tablet. In other words, it’s possible for guests to turn on the TV from the thermostat screen.

The voice features from the e7 can be further deployed in conjunction with voice hub of hotel technology providers like Volara, whose technologies are currently used in 25 hotel groups to enable guests and staff to engage with hotel systems.

Created for hotel rooms, the e7 is based on Smart Wall Plate design that offers hotel staff easy backup of device configuration and simple routine maintenance of the energy management system.

According to Honeywell, the e7 is compatible with most HVAC solutions. It doesn’t only makes guests comfortable, but also save energy costs with its technology.

When the room is unrented, the e7 automatically sets back the room temperature until the management system signals that guests have checked-in; and for those are rented, the thermostat minimized room downtime and automatically captures the thermostat configuration. But occupancy-based sensing requires hotels to install door switch monitor and motion sensors.

According to the company, its hospitality solutions INNCOM has been used in more than 1.5 million guest rooms around the world.

Some hotels have already installed an Amazon Echo speaker in their rooms. With Alexa built-in in the thermostat, that could possibly save the effort to purchase standalone speakers.
