According to the market forecast by Research Nester, the global smart home market is expected to continually increase with the projection of a 15.1% CAGR growth from 2017 to 2024. An estimated value of USD 130 billion by the end of 2024, the smart home industry will be seeing many more end users applying the technology into personal homes. Based on a report by global management consulting firm, A.T. Kearney, Asia alone will account for 30% of the global smart home share with an estimated worth to be around USD 115 billion by 2030.
SMAhome Expo keeping up with industry trends
SMAhome International Exhibition & Conference will complement the growth and change of the industry by displaying the latest products and solutions for the professional players looking into entering Asian smart home market.
The 5th Edition of SMAhome Expo will be held at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center in Taiwan from April 25 to 27, 2018, concurrent with Secutech International. This year SMAhome Expo would like to discover the solutions that truly solve users’ pain points and unveil the thing customers really believe in for their engagement in smart living. Some new events will be displayed at the Expo while returning ones such as Z-Wave Academy Asia invites speakers from the globe to give presentations of the latest knowhow of Z-Wave.
Smart Living Solution Center will be featuring several scenarios. One of which is the Connected Elderly Care. Showing the integrated solution for elderly care at homes or in professional institutions, the zone demonstrates fall detection, geo-location tracking capability, SOS calls, smart buttons to control devices and trigger warning to caretakers, etc. Other solution center includes Smart Residential Community, Whole-home Automation and Smart Ward.
Several technologies are highlighted at the Smart Living Solution Center. Smart Home Control will show the integrated solution for the control of homes, hotel rooms, or offices. The center will display smart gateways, cameras, lighting control, A/C control, curtain control and smart sensors for efficient HVAC performance. Seven specialists include,

Z-Wave Academy Asia will make its return with seven sessions being held on April 25th and 26th covering key factors of Z-Wave wireless protocol from its technology background, advantage for product development, implementation in smart home communication and devices, and market opportunities to the enhanced user experience and ecosystem connectivity. Speakers will include Evangelists from Z-Wave Alliance across three continents and industry leaders from eZLO to Axalent.
Z-Wave Alliance members including JTB, Saykey, Heiman, Locstar, BT-Star, Benetek and more display their latest innovations to showcase the complete smart home solutions that fulfills real smart lifestyle.
To place a spotlight on the many innovative products and technologies, the 2018 SMAhome Award will be working with Allion, the professional test lab, to select the smart home products in the following 5 aspects: multiecosystem support, interoperability, user friendliness, stability and creativity. The award will be presented on April 27th with three different categories which includes Top of Excellence, Top of Innovation, and Top of Popularity Award.
SMAhome buyers’ behavior
A survey was conducted by SMAhome Expo to the visitors attending the show. The purpose was to understand more of their background and the main purpose for attending the trade fair.
Majority of companies attending the show are importers at 50% and around 48% are system integrators of smart home related technologies, while 41% are distributors (Please refer to Figure 1). The type of products the visitors are interested in greatly varies. While cameras are still on top of the list for many visitors, with around 86% shows interests, other products also shows great interest among visitors including door related, smart plug, smart security, and home care just to name a few (Please refer to Figure 2).
Nearly 91% of visitors attending the show are in the decision making position in there company. Figure 4 shows that 48% of the visitors are here to seek professional applications in the smart home industry, 30% are looking into retailing and 18% are searching for distribution opportunities.
SMAhome Expo is also a great platform for visitors to seek out partnership for projects or products. Around 61% of visitors are searching for OEM, ODM or both for collaboration while 30 percent are seeking for brand representation (Please refer to Figure 3).
In order to form better connections between visitors and exhibitors, SMAhome Expo will be conducting 1-on-1 business matching program at the show. For those that have indicated interests in the program during pre-registration, SMAhome will set up the visitors with exhibitors based on their preferences and interests. The purpose is to help visitors meet with exhibitors that may provide the products or solutions they seek.
