Gemtek demonstrated TD-LTE Data/Wi-Fi Cloud Gateway, ZigBee IR gateway, and IP camera reference designs for smart home solutions, and IoT gateway for smart grid at Computex Taipei 2015. The company also demoed temperature/humidity sensor, battery-powered wall switch, smoke detector with heat sensor from third-party companies.
Its IR Extender can replace all remote controllers, and update IR codes on the cloud servers from the app on the smartphone. The TD-LTE Data/WiFi Cloud Gateway features multiple wireless connectivity, such as 3G, LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ZigBee, NFC, and optional Z-Wave for connecting IoT sensors at home. The users can access the Cloud Gateway from their mobile devise, with the application developed by its Android / iOS library SDK.
The company offers reference designs of battery-powered IP cameras for spy, sports and doorbell cameras. They feature power management IC, HD 720p resolution, echo cancellation for clear audio, 3AA batteries for battery life of half to 1 year, high-power IR LED for night vision, 150-degree wide angle and waterproof designs.
Besides, it showcased DSP based IP cam solution. The architecture uses Wi-Fi as the client, and video processor for all processing. With the hub supporting Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, the IP camera can connect to sensors.
It also showcased I.C.E 360 IP camera with triple lenses, waterproof case and battery docking station. The camera offers 360-degree surround view, cloud video recording (CVR), MT7620N chipset and OV788 video processor. It also offers single-lens IP camera I.C.E mini featuring HD resolution and CVR under development.
Its smart devices support scenario design by linking IP camera, control box and sensors together. All functional control and settings of different events are provided, including triggering certain devices under different scenarios. For example, the open door will trigger the IP cam to take a photo and send it to all binding users. When the indoor temperature is too high, the binding users will get the notification, and fan will automatically switch on. Lights will turn on at 5pm and turn off at 10pm from Monday to Friday.
Its IoT AP/gateway for smart grid, offered to utilities, connects with gas and electric meters. The AP can be configured to work in repeater mode for last mile coverage, and supports cloud service for easy deployment. It is claimed to be cost effective for service providers to deploy this for sensor networks than to deploy a GPRS network for sensor network applications. It is designed for wide-area smart city applications. The gateway, to be released by the end of June, supports LoRa and features low power consumption with around 10 years of battery life.
