TP-Link debuts smart power strip with voice control
TP-Link's new smart power strip turns any traditional appliances into smart ones
China-based TP-Link has introduced another device for its Kasa smart home product line. Its new smart power strip turns any traditional appliances into smart ones, and allowing homeowners to control them from a smartphone.

With the Kasa Smart Wi-Fi power strip, users can also pre-program devices to turn on or off, and group devices in the same schedule.

The Kasa Smart Wi-Fi power strip supports Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri and Microsoft Cortana, allowing users to activate or disable specific outlets via voice commands.

They may even use the Kasa Smart mobile app to control and monitor devices plugged into the smart power strip. For example, they can check the amount of power consumed by each device.

The Kasa Smart Wi-Fi power strip has six power outlets and three USB charging ports, allowing homeowners to remotely control home appliances while charging their phones, tablets or game consoles.

The power strip is now available for US$80. A smart plug normally costs between US$30 and US$50.

“For many, the possibility of a smart home may seem like a challenge, but the Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Power Strip makes the dream attainable by giving you six outlets that can turn any product into a smart product,” TP-Link says in a statement.

TP-Link launched the Kasa smart home brand in 2017. It currently offers gadgets like indoor and outdoor smart cameras and smart plugs. At the same time, TP-Link is a popular brand of Wi-Fi routers for homes.
