In the past, thermal imaging was a military qualified, commercially developed technology designed to safeguard extensive borders and vast open spaces. Only entities that had substantial capital could purchase and deploy thermal cameras. Over the years, FLIR has been the pioneer in introducing thermal solutions at lower price points and bringing the technology to new marketplaces like security. As a result, thermal cameras have become the industry standard for 24-hour monitoring and perimeter protection for airports, ports, power plants and other large enterprises.

With the FB-Series O, FLIR has presented a customized thermal solution for SMEs designed for short to midrange perimeter protection. Now businesses like car dealerships and storage facilities can access state-of-the-art thermal technology where perimeter size and security budget are no longer a barrier to adoption.

From a technological standpoint, the FB-Series O offers unparalleled security monitoring both day and night. The camera features a 320 x 240 resolution thermal imaging sensor that detects potential intruders in total darkness, and through sun glare, smoke, dust and light fog. Three separate lens options – 93-, 49- and 24-degree field of views – provide narrow-to-wide coverage of fence lines, building perimeters and open areas.

The new thermal camera also seamlessly integrates with FLIR’s other security solutions to provide maximum situational awareness and intrusion detection. When the FB-Series O is paired with analytic encoders such as FLIR ioi TRK-101 and FLIR ioi TRK-101 P PTZ, it can distinguish humans and vehicles; it can also hand-off targets to thermal or visible pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ)-enabled cameras on the same network. Simultaneous IP and analog video outputs are also available for use with network and legacy analog systems. Advanced automatic gain control (AGC) and FLIR's Digital Detail Enhancement (DDE) provide optimal image quality in all scenes and by integrating with FLIR United VMS thermal configuration, alarm notifications are easily managed.

The FB-Series O, which comes with FLIR’s industry-leading 10-year warranty on the thermal sensor and a three-year warranty on the camera body, is available now through FLIR’s network of dealers and integrators.
