Aimetis' VMS protects Stellaris Casino

Aimetis' VMS protects Stellaris Casino
The Stellaris Casino at the Marriott Aruba is the largest casino in Aruba.
The Stellaris Casino at the Marriott Aruba is the largest casino in Aruba. With more than 20 gaming tables and over 400 slot machines, the casino welcomes thousands of guests each week. In order to ensure the safety and security of these guests, the Stellaris security team requires a stable and reliable security system that will allow them to monitor all areas of the casino floor. In addition to the safety of its guests, the security team is also responsible for reducing theft and property damage.

With its previous system of analog cameras and digital video recorders (DVRs) no longer meeting the needs of the casino, the Stellaris team worked with their integrators at Croon Caribe to implement Aimetis Symphony video management software (VMS). By installing Aimetis Symphony, the Stellaris Casino now has a system with unhindered scalability; an intelligent, user-friendly interface; and an open platform. The open platform has allowed Stellaris to incorporate a selection of IP cameras that meet the unique needs of the casino. They have been able to decrease the total number of required cameras by choosing models that allow them to view larger areas with more detail than their previous analog versions.

“Having used Aimetis Symphony in other projects, we knew it was the right solution for the Stellaris Casino,” said Leroy Tachi, Project Leader at Croon Caribe. “The straightforward installation, the open platform, and the increased stability made Aimetis Symphony the clear choice for this project.”

The impact on the team at the Stellaris was immediate. Team members no longer have to leave their workstations to review recorded video on specific DVRs throughout the casino. Recorded video can now be viewed directly at their workstations, saving the team time and allowing them to focus on monitoring the casino and its guests. In addition, with the lowest total cost of ownership on the market, Symphony has decreased costs for Stellaris. The two servers installed replaced 15 DVRs and have provided much more reliability.

In addition to Aimetis Symphony, the Stellaris Casino is also using the Aimetis Thin Client. The casino is using the Thin Client to display specific video feeds in areas throughout the property. The security dispatcher is able to view the four cameras mounted at the entrances to the casino. The casino controller and the cage manager can watch specific feeds, while the General Manager is able to view all cameras. This allows these key employees to view live feeds of the casino floor without having to leave their offices to go to the security department.

Going forward, the Stellaris team hopes to convert all of their remaining DVRs to the Symphony platform. “I am confident that this upgrade to Aimetis Symphony will not only enhance the efficiency of our surveillance operations but will also positively impact the casino’s overall revenue,” said Henk Reeberg, Director of Surveillance at the Stellaris Casino.
