Videotec's Ulisse Compact Thermal, protector of military base in Italy

The Italian Ministry of Defence needed to strengthen the anti-intrusion perimeter system of one of its military bases using video surveillance cameras that would provide clear, continuous footage in order to promptly detect violations of this external boundary.

Due to the fact that this is a substantial military site that requires an unequivocal level of safety, with 24/7 active surveillance of the surrounding area, the installer's choice of device was a solution that, above all else, ensures high quality, efficiency and reliability – all without compromise.

The video recording device that really suited the installation's needs was Videotec's Ulisse Compact Thermal PTZ camera, which has an integrated dual day/night and thermal sensor.

These two high-quality cameras within the device support each other to provide flawless monitoring, day and night. The day/night camera is able to clearly identify a target under normal lighting conditions, while the thermal imaging allows objects or people to be detected in shaded areas, complete darkness, or where visibility is hampered by thick fog or smoke. During the night, the thermal sensor doesn’t require a light source and is, therefore, a discreet and efficient system for detecting unwanted intrusions and abnormal events.

Internal security personnel are able to control the cameras’ 36x zoom and continuous horizontal and vertical +/-90° rotation via the remote keyboard. They are also able to quickly set the cameras on a specific target, either manually or using automatic positioning. So, only few units are needed to maintain constant and effective monitoring of the military bases large outdoor areas.

The day/night sensor is also equipped with a wiper, again manageable from the remote keyboard.

The fact that the units are completely maintenance free and easy to use renders the end client very satisfied.
