Synology announces RackStation RS2416+/RS2416RP+

Synology unveiled the new RackStation RS2416+/RS2416RP+, a 12-bay network-attached storage solution featuring schedulable snapshots and resilient data integrity, on-the-fly scalability up to 24 drives, as well as reliable performance suited for the modern workplace.

With support for the next-generation Btrfs file system, RS2416+/RS2416RP+ offers metadata mirroring and checksums that has a higher level of data availability and survivability. Snapshots can be automatically captured as frequently as every five minutes, allowing businesses to go back in time and recover previous versions of files and folders. Up to 2561 daily, weekly, or monthly snapshots can be retained when equipped with expanded memory.

RS2416+/RS2416RP+ is equipped with a quad-core CPU, built-in AES-NI hardware encryption engine, 2GB RAM (expandable up to 6GB), and read/write-optimized SSD cache support. In addition to the standard four Ethernet ports with failover and link aggregation support, the RS2416RP+ variant includes redundant power supply units in order to maximize service uptime and business continuity.

RS2416+/RS2416RP+ is powered by DiskStation Manager (DSM), the web-based operating system for network-attached storage, which provides a host of applications to bring better productivity at work. Synology was voted by PC Pro readers as “The Best NAS Device of 2014”. According to their survey, more than a quarter of all NAS drives bought by PC Pro readers are made by Synology and 97 percent of them would buy Synology again.
