Sony's video security solution selected for Tokyo's New Transit Waterfront Line

Sony's video security solution selected for Tokyo's New Transit Waterfront Line
Sony has been selected to equip and install a video security solution capable of covering all of the stations operated by Tokyo’s New Transit Waterfront Line - the Yurikamome Line.

Sony has been selected to equip and install a video security solution capable of covering all of the stations operated by Tokyo's New Transit Waterfront Line - the Yurikamome Line.

The project, which is scheduled to be completed in January 2016, will see over 200 Sony HD-capable network cameras installed throughout the 16 train stations on the Yurikamome Line, all managed from a customized Sony-built central monitoring station.

Fast-moving transport environments can present numerous security risks, as bustling crowds can provide cover for potential crime. As a result, the transport sector has very specific video security needs, requiring clear, reliable images in busy areas, and under any lighting condition. Sony's cameras were selected for the Yurikamome line thanks to their innovative View-DR technology, which combines multiple images taken at different exposures to provide a final clear image. When this is combined with Sony's dynamic light response and image stabilizing technologies, consistently high-quality images are delivered, even under shifting light and weather conditions, such as glare from the sun, overcast days, and even at night. Operators will now be able to monitor security images in real time, helping to ensure the safety of travellers and a smooth-running service throughout the line.

The upgraded video security solution is in response to renewed commercial investment in the Tokyo Waterfront area in recent years, which has made the area increasingly busy. As one of the main transport lines for this area, the number of travelers using the Yurikamome Line is expected to grow. Sony's video security solution will help ensure their safety as they travel, and reflects the company's commitment to making viable, high quality security solutions available for all market applications.

The full solution comprised of:

* HD Network Cameras: 202 units
* Box cameras: 94 units
* Dome cameras: 64 units
* PTZ cameras: 44 units
