G4S, the world's global security and outsourcing group, has won a three-year contract to provide security operations at Brussels South Charleroi Airport (BSCA)

Worth approximately £30million in total turnover, G4S will provide a wide range of services including passenger and luggage screening, mobile patrols, control room and perimeter access control.

Welcoming 6.5 million passengers per year, BSCA is now one of the three largest airports in the Benelux region, and hosts low cost carriers such as Ryanair, Jetairfly and Wizzair.

Starting on 15th October, G4S will employ more than 360 staff as part of the contract.

G4S is the aviation security market leader in Belgium, also providing security operations at Brussels Airport.

Ronald Engels, G4S aviation security director, Belgium said: “We are delighted with BSCA's decision to award this contract to us. We have extensive experience of providing aviation security services and are looking forward to working with our partners at Brussels South Charleroi Airport to deliver services that will contribute to a pleasant and secure experience for all passengers and employees at the airport.”

David Stockton, G4S global aviation solutions director, added: “This award is testament to new customer-based approach we have adopted across our contracts. This ‘beyond security' approach will see the integration of manpower and technology, which will enable us to drive operational efficiency, accuracy and performance.”

Frédéric Gaillard, CSO of BSCA said: “The choice of G4S is a logical step in the process to further improve security for passengers and all staff working at the airport. We look forward to a successful partnership that will enhance the “friendly” passenger experience while guaranteeing excellent security performance.”
