FaceFirst, a facial recognition software system developer, has partnered California's Automated Regional Justice Information System (ARJIS) to enhance ARJIS' Tactical Identification System (TACIDS) Project with advanced facial recognition capabilities on ARJIS mobile devices. ARJIS, is an information sharing system among justice agencies throughout San Diego and Imperial Counties in California.

FaceFirst's system provides facial recognition and initiates queries to perform statistical analysis and produce measurable reports. These results improve field officer identification processes and enhance resolution of outstanding wants or warrants, as the system can identify criminals, terrorists, shoplifters and other wanted individuals.

"Wanted persons may not have proper identification, making the job of our law enforcement agents much more difficult," said Joe Rosenkrantz, CEO of FaceFirst. The facial recognition software technology integrated with TACIDS can assist agents in identifying wanted person when only limited information is available.

The ARJIS network that employs TACIDS is used by 82 local, state and federal agencies in two California counties that border Mexico. ARJIS currently integrates with more than 6,000 workstations and 9,000 authorized users, which generate 35,000 transactions daily.

"FaceFirst's technology will allow our law enforcement officers to instantly match individuals by face to those in our secure databases and sends alerts to designated individuals to take appropriate action," says Pamela Scanlon, Executive Director of ARJIS. "FaceFirst was selected because they have a flexible development platform, the application is lightweight, and easily applied to our existing mobile devices.”
