UK metal maker improves safety compliance and stock control on HD
Salop Design and Engineering, a UK manufacturer of metal pressings and assemblies for the automotive, domestic appliances and construction industries, established an HD video system to ensure health and safety compliance and protect its equipment and materials. “With heavy equipment running at high capacity to meet growing customer demand, Salop required a cost-effective surveillance solution to monitor activity across its 1.8-acre (80,000 square feet) facility,” said Bryan Schmode, Executive VP of Global Sales at Avigilon. Salop installed HD cameras, ranging from 2 megapixels to 5, to monitor the interior and exterior of the large plant, plus an NVR to store 12 days of continuous surveillance footage. Several cameras were permanently fixed on high-capacity machines to ensure target production rates. An HD camera was also installed at the main entrance of the parking lot that spans 2.3 acres (100,000 square feet) to monitor and capture license plates of vehicles entering the site. The whole system is monitored on Avigilon VMS, with a mobile app for senior management on the go. “Since deploying the Avigilon … system, we’ve also improved stock control by 100 percent and cut the cost of covering stolen or damaged materials,” said Christopher Greenough, Director of Production at Salop.
