Secutech Excellence Awards
The Secutech Excellence Awards was a unique, traffic stopping, real-life camera and D/NVR shootout at the showground, allowing objective judges and discriminating buyers to determine the best 960H, HD-SDI and megapixel solutions from live performance.
There were 37 products from 20 brands competing for the Camera Excellence Award. These included Brickcom, Everfocus, Hi Sharp, Hikvision, LILIN, Panasonic, Sony, Vivotek and others. For the DVR/NVR Excellence Award, there were 16 entries, representing 15 brands such as CalSys, Dahua, DiskStation, FaceID, Micro Digital, Nexcom and others. At the same time, the world's only megapixel lens showcase debuted at Secutech 2012, to offer buyers a neutral view of lens selection. Leading brands such as Tamron, Kenko-Tokina, CBC and Baso demonstrated their new launches. Hundreds of visitors stopped to observe how the surveillance products delivered and cast their votes for the top performers; details to follow in the June issue.
QUALITY EDUCATION AND KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER
Secutech 2012 not only featured comprehensive sourcing and product development options, but also showcased top-notch security education. A total of 32 seminar tracks, comprising144 interactive sessions, made Secutech the premier security destination in Asia. Conferences held concurrently at the show were the Global Digital Surveillance Forum (GDSF) and Composec.
1. HD and IP Surveillance Forum
The GDSF keynote, on future developments of IP surveillance, was delivered by Panasonic System Networks. Other highlights included Axis, Brickcom, Everfocus, Genetec, HDcctv Alliance, Hikvision, Milestone, Seagate, Verint and Vivotek.
2. Composec Forum
Composec keynote, on the intelligent decade, was delivered by Intel, followed by Altera, Gennum, Grain Media, Huperlab, Microsoft, Sony, Stretch, TI and WD.
3. Security 50 Summit
The Security 50 Annual Summit and Award Ceremony — world's first-ever event and platform for highlighting insight from top performers in physical security, across geography and product domains — provided an unobstructed communication channel for the top 50, and shared all the latest trends and opportunities with security professionals to advance this industry and community to the next level.
A series of dedicated speeches and on-site activities and video interviews took place at Secutech, for security professionals around the world to mingle with these Security 50 companies. For example, management-level executives from Axis, Bosch, Fermax, Honeywell, Milestone and Verint engaged in a roundtable discussion to share their thoughts on business development and management strategies. These events offered crucial intel for exhibitors and visitors alike to act on trends, seek new partners, acquire compatible companies or even move into uncharted territories.
4. Gold VIP Talks
Gold VIP Talks was a whole-new event designed by Secutech's organizer Messe Frnakfurt to create information sharing and networking opportunities, between prominent regional buyers from Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa and product and solution providers. In the format of a luncheon, this event was for prime buyers to share sourcing, purchasing and partner finding experience. a&s editorial director John Shi moderated the event and provided additional comments and recommendations.
