IMS Research: Hikvision Still No. 1 for DVRs,Growing Camera Market Share

Rankings by IMS Research
According to the “World Market for CCTV and Video Surveillance Equipment Report 2011” from IMS Researc h , Hikvision remained the No. 1 supplier of DVRs worldwide for two consecutive years. It ranked No. 7 for the first time in the category of network cameras. In terms of video surveillance equipment, the company jumped to No. 4 this year from No. 5 last year.

“Our network cameras for the first time were listed in the rankings, and this fully recognized our efforts we have invested over these years,” said Polo Cai, Vice President of Hikvision.

“The company continues to harvest its market share in the international market, as well as at home. We are expecting to see more of its involvement,” said Gary Wong, Senior Research Analyst at IMS Research. He added that Hikvision has shown dynamic growth in recent years and become one of the market leaders in the video surveillance industry, even though it has only been established for 10 years.

R&D Enhancement
As IP-based surveillance penetrates the security market, the company realized that network surveillance will be the next technology trend and started to pour R&D resources into this field ahead of its competitors.

“We are dedicated to enhancing our R&D capability in network cameras, while concentrating on the development of high performance back-end products - such as DVRs and NVRs,” Cai said. “Furthermore, we continue to strengthen our strategic collaboration with our video management software partners and bring greater value to our customers.”
