Stanley Awarded Alarm Monitoring Contract

Stanley Convergent Security Solutions has been awarded the Sonitrol alarm monitoring contract for two Stearn Electric distribution warehouses in the South of England.

Stanley Convergent Security Solutions has been awarded the Sonitrol alarm monitoring contract for two Stearn Electric distribution warehouses in the South of England.

A national electrical distributor supplying more than10,000 electrical wholesalers and outlets across the U.K., Stearn Electric uses audio verification using Sonitrol audio technology at its Bristol and Leighton Buzzard branches. Having been awarded the Sonitrol franchise in the U.K., Stanley was quick to react when Stearn Electric's Bristol branch contacted the company to see if they could take over the system from the previous franchisee.

Stanley put in place a strategy to take over the system rapidly, including sourcing a replacement board for the panel, supplying qualified engineers to undertake the work and programming Stanley's system to receive the Sonitrol signals.

Stearn Electric Bristol branch Manager Alan Blackwell is impressed with the service provided: "I have been pleased with Stanley's response and the manner in which they carried out the repair and takeover. The alternative would have been to install a new system at considerable expense and disruption, which I did not really want to do."

In fact, so impressed has Blackwell been that he has recommended Stanley to other Stearn branches, including Leighton Buzzard which has also appointed Stanley to take over their Sonitrol alarm system shortly.

Sonitrol provides organizations with the ability to verify an alarm event in real time by allowing operators to hear what's happening on a monitored site. When an alarm is triggered, the system alerts Stanley's system and transmits the sounds of the break-in attempt and a code describing the location of the activated audio sensor. Operators on duty around the clock listen silently to determine the nature of the noise and take appropriate action, such as calling the authorities or resetting the system. Such a facility increases apprehension rates as intruders are not alerted and police respond quickly to a verified crime in progress.

Steve Hopton, Manager at Stearn Electric's Leighton Buzzard branch understands the value of the Sonitrol system only too well. In one particular instant he attended an alarm to find the police present, but they were convinced it was a false alarm as there was no sign of a break in. Using the Sonitrol system Hopton was able to identify the precise location where the suspects had been and recovered stolen stock that the thieves had left outside to collect on their return.
