TagMaster RFID Streamlines Vehicle Deliveries at West African Seaport

TagMaster, a producer of RFID solutions for long-range identification, installed automatic vehicle identification for access control in Conakry Harbor, West Africa. The installation is handled by TagMaster's systems integrator, ETL Security of Conakry West Africa.

The installation is part of a rebuilding and modernization project to improve the capacity, efficiency and security of the most important harbor in Guinea. In the first phase, the installation will be used for the access control of trucks and vehicles driving in and out of the harbor. Today more than 500 trucks and 200 other vehicles deliver around 1000 tonnes of goods every day. These numbers are rising as the harbor continuously expands its business. The TagMaster RFID readers will be integrated with the port management system and control the barriers at the six lanes used for traffic, as well as control the access of approximately 500 pedestrians entering the harbor every day. The project has received international funding and is considered to be an important investment in infrastructure for the region.

To enhance security achieved by the access control system, the project will use TagMaster ID tag. It is permanently attached to the vehicle windscreen and which shows when the ID tag has been tampered with. TagMaster readers and ID tags are in operation in all parts of the world and in all climatic conditions. The reliability of the reader is a cornerstone of the success of any demanding applications, such as harbor installations. The combination of using TagMaster's readers and ID Tags results in a long-read range. The setup and integration of the readers with the other systems used in the access control solution was another important factor when selecting TagMaster's products for this installation.
