The city of Ursus, Poland decided to introduce IP surveillance for better public security to allow the police to react to acts of vandalism in schools, nurseries and parks. Local authorities wanted a system that was upgradeable, cost-effective and most importantly, could easily integrate with pre-existing hardware.

After testing both analog and digital systems, local planners decided that a TCP/IP solution was best. Approximately 300 Axis cameras were installed, including PTZ and megapixel. Everything is controlled by Milestone video management.
Crimes have decreased overall as the knowledge that a person is being watched and recorded is often deterrent enough. When incidents do occur, the police are able to provide high-quality recordings as evidence in court. Ursus has one of the lowest crime raters per 100,000 residents of all Warsaw districts.
Ursus is nowadays proud to have one of the lowest crime rates per 100,000 residents of all Warsaw districts. This figure stands for both minor offences and serious crimes.
