Take our tech trends survey now
Security 50 has been the annual flagship project of this publication for decades. This year, as every year before, our annual ranking of the 50 biggest and most important players in physical security will come along with reporting on the latest trends based on insights from asmag and its partners, as well as its readers—through three concurrent surveys focusing on different aspects of the sector.
Security 50 has been the annual flagship project of this publication for decades. This year, as in previous years, our annual ranking of the 50 biggest and most important players in physical security will come along with reporting on the latest trends based on insights from asmag and its partners, as well as its readers—through three concurrent surveys focusing on different aspects of the sector.

  • What are the latest tech trends affecting the whole industry? Find the survey here.

Some trends are as apparent as they are real, with all the big players in the industry bringing new technologies to the market that have immediate impact on real-word deployments. Other trends fly under the radar for years and only come to the fore when you ask questions as specific as we do in our surveys. Even other trends are the talk of the day for a while, but their real-world impact of the respective technologies fall short eventually.

It's our quest to quantify trends, not by how loudly they are being talked about, but by what we can realistically expect from them.

Our surveys therefore focus on two main factors: The maturity of a technology, and its suitability in the physical security space. Technologies ranking high on both axes are “here to stay,” while those that are deemed immature or less suitable will still have to prove themselves.

This year, our surveys come with an updated list of technologies reflecting the latest developments, as nascent trends branch out into different application scenarios, as well as some niche items that we think might gain traction soon.

We are grateful to everyone taking the surveys and sharing their professional insights. We are also looking forward to sharing your accumulated insights with you again, along with the rest of Security 50 in November.
