Modern home control systems provide a single easy-to-use tool that can help simplify daily life. Some homeowners don’t need every function every day, but they still like to have the extra capabilities in case they decide they need them later on. As Ireland-based HiTech Homes recently found, clients who have specific, limited integration needs can greatly benefit from a robust ELAN Control System that’s both affordable and expandable to support additional future integration.

“While building their new cliff-top dream home, our clients realized they had the opportunity to drastically improve the quality, reach and accessibility of their beloved music collection,” said Patrick Morrissy, sales and marketing lead at Hitech Homes. “Both homeowners are audiophiles who simply love listening to music, so they wanted to integrate every source available and make it easy to listen to in any room.”

Utilizing in-ceiling, bookshelf and outdoor speakers, Hitech Homes installed a six-zone audio system that’s controlled through an ELAN HR10 Handheld Remote control or via the ELAN Mobile App on their smartphone. It offers the homeowners a fast, easy way to switch between music sources, to adjust volume in various audio zones, and to utilize sources including a vinyl turntable and the latest Autonomics high-definition music streamer.

“These homeowners built a forward-thinking home that received an ‘A’ rating for low energy and CO2 emissions, and they wanted their leisure electronics to be forward-thinking, too,” added Brian Morrissy, technical lead at Hitech Homes. “During the project, they decided to add another audio zone, highlighting the value of an expandable ELAN system that can grow as its owners desire. Now they can use a single remote with an easy-to-use touchscreen to control the whole home’s music, including high-definition, 24-bit, 192 kHz audio from the Autonomics server.”

An ELAN S86A Multi-room AV Controller handles audio amplification and distribution, while Hitech Homes used a variety of speakers to best outfit every area of the home, including Niles DS7 in-ceiling models. In order to ensure long-lasting music bliss and superior, uninterrupted performance, all the equipment is powered through a Furman® M-10X Power Conditioner that protects against electrical surges and voltage spikes.

“Besides the music functions, we chose an ELAN control system because it’s hands-down the easiest system to operate,” Patrick said. “With just a few taps on the touchscreen remote, our clients can direct any of their music sources to any, or all, of the audio zones, plus have instant volume and pause functionality. They love it, and we hope it inspires more homeowners to consider how home automation can improve their lives.”
