Toronto-based four-diamond luxury hotel turns to ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions to upgrade property security with VingCard Classic RFID and Visionline locking solution.

Customer

Prestigious, four-diamond luxury hotel, InterContinental® Toronto Centre Hotel, is known for its glamorous amenities, bringing contemporary elegance and comfort to its 584 rooms. Located in downtown Toronto, Ontario, InterContinental Toronto is within walking distance of some of Toronto’s most popular attractions, such as the CN Tower, the Air Canada Centre and the Rogers Centre, and is managed by InterContinental Hotels Group, operator of 12 brands stretching over 100 territories and countries.

Challenge

Having prior success with ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions VingCard Classic locks and Vision solution, InterContinental staff immediately knew who to turn to when upgrading its systems to the latest RFID technologies. Desiring to increase overall property security by bringing luxury and innovation together, InterContinental Toronto staff opted to upgrade to the VingCard Classic RFID and Visionline wireless locking solution.

Solution

Through the use of the VingCard Classic RFID and Visionline wireless locking solution, hotel staff are able to create a more effective system to eliminate unauthorized keycard cloning or demagnetization. With the two solutions working in tandem, hotel staff can now remotely monitor who is accessing restricted areas of the property and when. If any keycard is suspected of being tampered with or used inappropriately, staff can now quickly deactivate that keycard to prevent further unauthorized use. The two solutions were also able to bring in greater opportunity to creating site-specific programs for doors and certain sections of the property.

In addition to creating a more effective system for the property, InterContinental can now offer guests more keycard options, such as stand open keycards and one-time use cards. Since the upgraded system offers increased flexibility, hotel management can now create staff user groups and control staff access across the property from one central location.
