Drawing on its latest range of sustainable door-opening solutions, ASSA ABLOY Entrance solutions helped METRO Cash & Carry build a store in Austria.

METRO Cash & Carry is an international wholesale retailer founded 1964 in Germany. With more than 750 stores globally, in Austria METRO has 12 shops.
Challenge
METRO wanted to construct an international flagship store for its new premises in St. Pölten, Austria – the goal of the company and architects was to create a modern and sustainable ‘feel-good’ building for the customers.
Solution
ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems played a key role from the beginning of the project with the focus on providing sustainable solutions to meet international standards.
At the main entrance and exit, a vestibule solution with designated entrance and exit doors makes it easy for shoppers to navigate in and out of the shop, with ASSA ABLOY
SL500 slim sliding doors minimizing heat loss. At the rear of the store, six insulated dock levelers combined with ASSA ABLOY OH1042P insulated sectional doors not only meet the building’s high sustainability standards, they ensure all loading and unloading of goods is smooth, safe and efficient.
With different temperatures required in-store – notably for chilled goods – the different climatic zones are separated with ASSA ABLOY RR300 rapid-roll interior doors and SL500 sliding doors.
