A government entity in Dubai deploys HID Mobile Access and Seos smart cards
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment selected HID Global based on the company’s ability to deliver on these stringent requirements and its best-in-class access control solutions.
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment (MRHE) is a public company established by the government of Dubai, with approximately 200 employees. The MRHE mission is to make housing available for UAE Dubai citizens and improve their quality of life through a variety of housing solutions.

Challenges

MRHE was seeking to upgrade its access control solution to a more reliable and advanced solution where any mix of smart cards, smartphones, and wearables could be used to open doors throughout the facility.

Key selection criteria included:
  • Seamless upgrade to a mobile-enabled physical access control system.
  • Ability to enhance employee experience.
  • Secure and easy to use.
  • Scalability for future applications such as secure printing and IT security.

MRHE selected HID Global based on the company’s ability to deliver on these stringent requirements and its best-in-class access control solutions.

The Solution

MRHE has deployed Seos smart cards and HID Mobile Access, making it possible for MRHE employees to use any combination of mobile devices and smart cards for access control. Mobile-ready iCLASS SE Readers had been previously installed at MHRE as part of their phased upgrade plan.

The solution provides an enhanced employee experience by enabling a new level of convenience, while increasing security at the same time. HID Mobile Access also provides employees the option to use HID Global’s patented “Twist and Go” gesture or to simply tap their smartphone or wearable at a mobile-ready iCLASS SE reader to open doors within MRHE.

The new solution was deployed within MRHE’s IT and HR facilities, with a phased roll out plan to include upgrading to Seos cards and adding mobile access at other facilities within MRHE.

HID Global partnered with regional experts EPM Systems & Solutions to implement the new Seos cards and HID Mobile Access at MRHE. “HID Global’s solution integrated perfectly into MRHE’s credentials management platform. The ease of installation allowed us to deploy the system speedily,” said Mr. Hadi Omer, Sales and Marketing Director with EPM Systems & Solutions.

Benefits

Employee feedback has been very positive and the ”Twist and Go” gesture technology is extremely popular with employees, who enjoy using a gesture to access the facility.

“HID Mobile Access allows us to extend the use of smartphones to access our office, which has helped provide a convenient, secure and user-friendly experience to our employees. The solution is cost-effective, simple to use and allows us to manage employee credentials efficiently,” said Mr. Talal Al Ali, Smart Services Department Director with MRHE.

In addition to increasing the overall security of the access control system, the use of advanced Seos smart cards and HID Mobile Access has enabled MRHE to simplify the issuance of employee access and management for administrators with the straightforward HID Mobile Access portal for issuing, managing and revoking Mobile IDs to smartphones and wearables.

Following MRHE’s successful upgrade to a more flexible and secure access control system, the company is exploring adding new capabilities to employees’ trusted IDs in the future.

“At MRHE, we now have a mixed technology environment of cards, smartphones and wearables, providing our employees the ultimate freedom of choice to use their preferred credential. In the future, we are also looking forward to using it for more applications, such as for secure printing and IT security.” said Mr. Talal Al Ali, Smart Services Department Director with MRHE.
