ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, a division of ASSA ABLOY UK, the global leader in door opening solutions has supplied security doors for communal bin stores to Thames Valley Housing.

The Twickenham based housing association, is responsible for over 14,500 homes, including traditional rented housing, shared ownership and student accommodation.

The Security Doors team was challenged to find a secure and durable solution to conceal bin stores located in various streets around Worcester Park to replace existing dilapidated timber doors.

ASSA ABLOY Security Doors worked closely with DigiGroup, to specify and supply Powershield steel security doors to the project, which deliver the strength and durability needed to withstand aggressive usage and harsh weather conditions. The doors were fitted with mechanical combination locks, providing access for residents and authorised users.

As well as Powershield steel doorsets, Security Doors designed and manufactured robust wall ventilation grills to replace damaged timber ventilation grills.

Dave Tindall, Project Surveyor at Thames Valley Housing, said: “Our previous bin doors were broken and could not be closed; leaving a risk that the bin stores could be misused. Security Doors and DigiGroup were able to provide us with an attractive and durable solution.”

Mike Cullen, Managing Director at DigiGroup, said: “Security Doors supported us with their knowledge and capability throughout the project, enabling us to protect bin stores at Lancaster Way, Pondside, Parkview Crescent and Thames Avenue.”

Nigel Cronin, Sales Manager at Security Doors, said: “Working closely with DigiGroup, we were able to supply doorsets to Thames Valley Housing that will withstand the test of time and minimise repair and maintenance bills.”
