Bosch Security Systems has delivered an integrated security solution for “The Star”, an iconic multi-purpose building in Singapore. Located right in the central Buona Vista area, “The Star” is a new architectural landmark and combines an upscale shopping center with more than 100 shops and restaurants, called the Star Vista, and a cultural zone named the Star Performing Arts Centre.
Bosch Security Systems has delivered an integrated security solution for “The Star”, an iconic multi-purpose building in Singapore. Located right in the central Buona Vista area, “The Star” is a new architectural landmark and combines an upscale shopping center with more than 100 shops and restaurants, called the Star Vista, and a cultural zone named the Star Performing Arts Centre. The Star Vista occupies the lower six levels of the building, while the Star Performing Arts Centre with its impressive 5,000 seat auditorium is located on the upper nine floors.
Designing a security environment for “The Star” was a real challenge. A shopping centre with its public places and more than 100 individually operated shops has much different requirements than an events complex with a huge theatre and a large multi-purpose hall. Furthermore, the Star Vista and the Star Performing Arts Centre are owned and operated by two individual companies, which strived for an integrated solution securing the entire development.
The local Bosch partner InfoCom & Security Systems therefore designed a very modular security system based on standard network technologies. Thus, they were able to exactly meet the different needs of individual zones of the building while seamlessly combining all these local solutions into one integrated and centrally managed system.
The security solution for “The Star” includes Bosch's video surveillance, public address and access control systems. IP-based Bosch FlexiDome and Autodome cameras throughout the building are managed and operated through the Bosch Video Management System. The video solution offers decentralized recording and Intelligent Video Analysis from Bosch for very efficient operations. Bosch's Praesideo Public Address and Evacuation system serves for background music and voice announcements in regular operations. In case of emergency it can also be used as an evacuation system. Video surveillance, public address and access control systems are integrated via the Bosch Building Integration System (BIS) which enables central management and operations and greatly eases coordination between the two operators of the building.
