Kiddie Park captures details with Bosch HD video
The Bartlesville Playground Association sought to improve the video surveillance at the Kiddie Park. The Bartlesville Playground Association applied for a grant to fund the system upgrade to help improve security and to provide enhanced safety for visitors.

End User:
Bartlesville area Kiddie Park, established in 1947, is operated by the Bartlesville Playground Association, a non-profit organization. The park is focused on the safety of children.

Business Objective:
The Bartlesville Playground Association sought to improve the video surveillance at the Kiddie Park. The Bartlesville Playground Association applied for a grant to fund the system upgrade to help improve security and to provide enhanced safety for visitors.

Solution:
5 BOSCH FLEXIDOME HD 1080p RD cameras and an AUTODOME HD PTZ camera with 20x optical zoom added to the park's analog cameras to deliver improved scene detail. Day/Night capability provides better low light performance and enables color tones to be distinguished even in poor lighting. This feature is important for surveillance at night when vandalism or graffiti painting is more likely to occur.

Cameras are located in the parking lot, at the concession stand, outside the restrooms and at other key points throughout the park. They produce more pixels per target object than standard definition IP cameras to make it easier to monitor monetary transactions, identify facial characteristics and distinguish license plate numbers. The FLEXIDOME cameras' flat window that aligns with the lens provides clear images that are undistorted by the protective cover. Association staff can zoom in to any part of a scene to examine specific details without losing clarity. In addition to improved detail, the cameras stream video in the 16:9 aspect ratio, which provides a wider field of view for greater coverage of the park.

Live video is used after hours, for alarm verification by the central station. Recorded video is also reviewed every morning.

Video recorded using the Recording Station Appliance with 4TB of storage. The appliance features an integrated design-combining a network video recorder server, storage array, client workstation and video management software in an all-in-one tower PC. Its flexible viewing options enable association staff to view video remotely via a web browser. H.264 compression enables video to be stored for approximately 30 days.

Result:
The HD surveillance system helps the Bartlesville Playground Association to enhance the safety of the children who visit the park – one of the primary concerns of the board and staff.

In addition, the new surveillance system has helped the city stop vandalism to the park restroom facilities and aided police in the arrest of an individual who had robbed 2 people walking together in the park.
