VIVOTEK assists Azerbaijan superstore chain monitor for security and operations online
Bazarstore, a large supermarket chain in Azerbaijan, recently upgraded its video surveillance system at the Sumagyit branch to an IP-based video surveillance system, consisting of VIVOTEK network cameras and NVR, to prevent shoplifting and ensure the safety of staff and customers. VIVOTEK's local distributor, Axsis Group, supplied the cameras and provided professional consulting.

Bazarstore's key branch in Sumagyit, one of the biggest cities of Azerbaijan, welcomes numerous customers every day, getting particularly crowded during holidays or on days when there are special promotions. The safety of people who are shopping in the store and the security of store operations are top priorities. VIVOTEK's cameras were adopted for their capability to provide seamless monitoring and capture clear footage of customers in key locations, such as check-out counters, merchandise areas, and the entrance.

In this project, several camera models were installed indoors and outdoors, including 5-megapixel 360 degree camera,1-megapixel pan/tilt dome, compact cube camera and D/N bullet camera, replacing a great number of existing analog cameras. In light of the wide coverage provided by the 5-megapixel 360 degree camera, the store installed the camera in large rooms, the entrance, and the exit of the supermarket, and also mounted it above the cashiers desks, for clear monitoring of customers' movements, events of interest, and the transactions handled by cashiers. For corridors between merchandise shelves, the 1-megapixel pan/tilt dome was adopted. In addition, for monitoring smaller spaces in the supermarket, the compact cube camera was selected for its 180-degrees panoramic view, providing complete video security of the site.

In order to achieve clear views of the outdoor areas in front of and behind the store, the D/N bullet camera was chosen. The camera is encased in an IP66-rated weather-proof housing to withstand rain and dust, protecting the camera against a range of adverse outdoor conditions. Bazarstore's Sumagyit branch also introduced VIVOTEK's NVR for recording, eliminating the need for a separate PC to view videos.

The client benefited financially and technically, said Mustafa Celenk, Director of Axsis. The newly installed cameras have reduced the number cameras required, for instance one 5-megapixel 360 degree camera can offer the same coverage as seven old cameras that  were used in the stores. The video quality has also improved immensely.
