Chinese cloud-computing service provider test drives logical physical access integration

Identive Group announced that a leading cloud computing operations service provider in China is expanding its implementation of Identive's Hirsch access control system at its central data center in Beijing as well as into two additional data centers in other parts of the country.

“The cloud-based services market in China is growing rapidly, and it is important to this sector to have seasoned security partners who can develop integrated systems that will scale and adapt to the growth of each service provider. Identive's technology, commitment and experience convinced us that they are the right choice. The successful operation of the Hirsch access control system at the Beijing data center has deeply impressed our team and our customer, and we are now moving forward with plans to connect the customer's additional sites into a global, unified, network control system. We look forward to ever closer cooperation with Identive in the years to come,” said Eric Yu, GM of Beijing Eterna Technology, Identive's channel partner in China for access control and security solutions.

The initial installation at the Beijing data center was completed in 2011 and includes 30 HIRSCH DIGI*TRAC M8N/M8N2 controllers to ensure that all personnel are properly identified and authenticated at doors throughout the site. Hirsch Velocity Security Management Software helps control and monitor access to all key areas, from outer doors to individual server racks and cages in the heart of the data center, and ensures that all events are monitored, verifiable and auditable. The installation is now being expanded to include an additional 30 DIGI*TRAC controllers. New installations at two newly constructed data centers will utilize 50 DIGI*TRAC M8N2 control panels as well as Velocity Security Management Software.

“Data centers and other high security applications are important target markets for Identive in China. Working with our partner Eterna, we have been able to expand our presence in this market and across several other important verticals. Our growing footprint in China and the success of our partnership with Eterna are results of our investments to develop our capabilities in the important Asia/Pac region,” said Stephen Healy, VP of Identive and GM of the Company's Access Control & Security Division.
