Las Vegas luxury condos streamline incident investigations with style

Panorama Towers, a luxurious condominium complex in Las Vegas, U.S., recently deployed a comprehensive and discreet IP-based surveillance solution consisting of Mobotix cameras and VMS to secure its 650 units and more than 800 residents. More than half of the 137 Mobotix IP cameras have already been installed. Rvnue is the systems integrator for the project.

Christian Petrou, CEO of Rvnue, designed the system in the most cost-efficient way possible, leveraging Mobotix hemispheric dome, dual lense dome, and the newly released 6-megapixel dual camera to reduce the required number of cameras. The 6-megapixel dual camera features two hemispheric sensor modules, each with a 180-degree horizontal viewing angle, connected to the camera module through a 1.82 meter (6 foot) cable. The camera wiring and housing can be concealed in a wall or ceiling with a lens on either side, so one 6-megapixel dual camera provides a full 180-degree view of two adjacent rooms.

"With the 6-megapixel dual camera's  hemispheric view, we can replace almost a dozen traditional cameras,” said Petrou. “One hemispheric dome can replace a handful of cameras and a single dual lense dome does the work of three to six traditional cameras.” Overall, the reduction of the number of cameras required has saved about US$75,000 in initial investment.

The Panorama Towers experienced additional cost savings through the deployment of professional VMS included with the purchase of every camera for no additional costs. The professional VMS consolidates video operation in a straightforward and powerful manner with user-based operation and evaluation. “Many of bids from other integrators included up to $140,000 annually in licensing fees,” Petrou said. “With Mobotix, that cost is completely eliminated.”
