ADT, a provider for alarm monitoring and a distinguished brand of Tyco is awarded the Gold award at the "Prevention of False Alarm 2011". In recognition of the achievements by the security industry, the Hong Kong Police Force is recognizing 12 security services companies who have achieved the lowest false alarm rate in the nation, based on their individual subscriber base.

Since 1989, the Crime Prevention Bureau of Hong Kong Police Force has implemented the Phased Response Scheme for intruder alarm systems with the aim to improve operation efficiencies of security companies who are providing alarm monitoring as a service. Under this scheme, different levels of police response to intrusion alarm alerts were determined based on the number of false alarm generated in a given period of time.

Alex Kim, VP of Central Monitoring Services and Technology, Tyco Asia said, "This award we received has underscored our continuous efforts to improve our service delivery and to enhance our operation efficiency in which helps to reduce the unnecessary deployment of police resource due to false alarms. With a set of clear procedures for our day-to-day 24/7 central monitoring operations, ADT is committed to provide reliable and quality service to protect our customers."

"It is a great honor for ADT to be recognized for having achieved the lowest false alarm rate of 0.13 in 2011. We take pride in the fact that not only we deliver reliable and quality service to our customers, but most importantly we have enhanced the value of security services through our collaboration with the police which have helped the society become a safer place to live and work," said Edmond Cheung, GM for ADT Security Hong Kong and Macau, who represented the company to receive the award from the Chief Superintendent of Police.

In 2011, there were a total number of 12,504 false alarms, which represented a 6 percent decline when compared to the year before. The nation's overall false alarm rate was at 0.37 in 2011.
