Virginia health care group deploys Mobotix cams and sound detection
Mobotix announced that Valley Health, a non-profit health care group in Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland, has deployed more than 100 Mobotix cameras across four of its six hospitals and now operates at least one of each type of Mobotix camera. Valley Health chose the Mobotix system to slowly replace its fleet of analog cameras, as well as reduce camera counts with panoramic views, streamline incident investigations with delivery of high-resolution images and allow for discreet camera placement.

Valley Health is utilizing the 360-degree views of Mobotix's Q24 cameras and the 6.2-megapixel potential of the D14 DualDome cameras to secure interior hallways, intersections and entrances. In addition, Mobotix M12 cameras provide superb perimeter security with day and night features from hospital rooftops.

“Using MOBOTIX cameras that have so many unique functions built in for a variety of unique applications is great, especially for larger customers,” said Kevin Ganczak, CTO, Executive Protection Systems, the project's integrator. “MOBOTIX cameras provide us and our customers with a lot of flexibility to find the best camera for the job and exceed customer expectations.”

Valley Health is also leveraging several Mobotix T24 Door Stations that are customized by EPS to replace one hospital's audio detection system. The T24s are configured to detect loud noises in the parking garage stairwells and alert authorities. The entire system is an upgrade over the hospital's previous sound detection system because it provides first responders with video of the scene, helping them to rule out false alarms and providing personnel with knowledge of the situation to enable the appropriate response.

“It's similar to those blue call boxes you often see around college campuses,” said Arthur Yow, Director of Safety and Security, Valley Health. “This is a great product because it gives us the sound detection we were searching for as well as the visual capabilities to weed out false alarms and prepare first responders. In addition, employees, patients and visitors can use it to contact authorities in non-emergency situations.”

Valley Health found additional ROI and utility by deploying MxControlCenter, professional video management software included with the purchase of Mobotix cameras at no additional charge. This allows the company to quickly and easily grant access to camera feeds for any employee who Page 1 / 2 might need it through a Web browser. Combined with the Mobotix decentralized approach to surveillance, it delivers a comprehensive security system at an extremely cost-effective price.
