DSC, part of Tyco Security Products, has introduced a series of HSPA/3G wireless alarm communicators that can be used as the sole communicator or in a back-up mode with the phone line.

With the impending turndown of the GPRS/2G network, DSC is ensuring that these wireless alarm communicators will perform at the highest level now and through the lead up to the GPRS/2G shutdown. By starting to install 3G communicators now, customers can avoid future service calls to upgrade devices now that major carriers have solidified plans to completely remove their GPRS/2G network in given areas, beginning in the next two to three years. By offering the new 3G models at the same pricing as their 2G equivalents, DSC allows dealers to leverage the benefits of the new technology without any additional expense.

With the continuing migration away from traditional phone lines and toward Voice over IP (VoIP) and mobile phones, delivering primary or back-up alarm communications has evolved to include HSPA wireless communications over a 3G network. The 3G3070 HSPA Universal Wireless Alarm Communicator, 3G3070CF HSPA Universal Wireless Fire Alarm Communicator both utilize the HSPA network as back-up to ensure high speed, reliable and secure alarm communications. With the HSPA backup, any concerns about the possibility of phone line disruption are removed.

The 3G3070 and 3G3070CF are fully compatible with the Sur-Gard System II, III and IV monitoring station receivers, and work with control panels that communicate using the Contact ID format. Both provide full event reporting, using the HSPA network for high-speed, reliable and low-cost communications via an IP receiver. The 3G3070 and 3G3070CF feature 4 on-board inputs and 4 on-board outputs. Activation and initialization are easy via an automated telephone activation system, web user or mobile interface provided by C24 Communications.

The 3G3070CF has the added feature of being able to be used for commercial fire alarm monitoring applications as a single communications technology, or it can be used as part of multiple communications technologies. It includes a UL- listed power supply, transformer and 7 Ah rechargeable battery.

The 3G2055 (also sold as 3G2075) IMPASSA Communicator adds the ability to establish a direct connection to Tyco Security Products' C24 Interactive platform. The 3G2055 enables users to remotely arm and disarm IMPASSA as well as take advantage of other features in the C24 Interactive security package. The 3G2055 also offers two-way voice over cellular, the ability to upload and download to the control panel through the communicator and offers integrated cellular communications as the primary form of alarm communications.

Also joining the 3G product portfolio will be the 3G2060R HSPA Wireless Alarm Communicator and the TL2603GR Internet and HSPA Dual-path Alarm Communicator, which are both compatible with the DSC PowerSeries PC1864/1832/1616 control panels.
