Baosteel Metal is a subsidiary of the Baosteel Group, China's most competitive iron and steel manufacturer. In 2009, Baosteel produced 38.87 million tons of steel, and was ranked third in all global steel companies. With continuously advancing technologies and the accelerating pace of the IT infrastructure, Baosteel Metal had an increasing need to secure its key potential concerns and update its IT infrastructure.
The infrastructure of this project was based on the latest network video technology. After careful and thorough analysis, Baosteel selected the leading manufacturer in network video equipment, Axis Communications as their solution provider, together with Digital China. Axis and Digital China established a complete video surveillance platform for Baosteel. The platform facilitates the unification of a management system that is efficient and modernized, thus realizing a truly digital video transmission system, which significantly helped to improve efficiency.

Since deployment of the project, Baosteel Metal headquarters has been able to examine the operations of each subsidiary at any time, in particular the key hazardous areas. It has greatly shortened the response time required to check and troubleshoot the areas. The application of the new system significantly improved service effectiveness, simplified the coordination with other departments, shortened response time, and increased operational efficiency. Use of the surveillance platform and Axis HDTV network cameras has allowed the capture of a large number of traceable and high-quality videos, which has improved the qualities of management and customer service.
