Open264-SE and Open264-E is a high-performance H.264/AVC Baseline Profile video encoder, optimized for real-time encoding of multi-channel video such as DVR(Digital Video Recorder) and capture cards. Open264-SE and Open264-E optimizes memory bandwidth usage and utilize multi-core CPU structures to enable higher performance of the final product. If you use quad core or higher CPU, you will get better results.

Using i5 750 CPU, high speed option, Open264-E & Open264SE encoding performance would be;
24 channels of D1 resolution in real time(30fps) with CPU usage of 76% or,
30 channels of D1 resolution in real time(30fps) with CPU usage of 95%

Considering that x264 is an open platform codec which needs GPL and is not a commercial codec, Open264-SE is absolutely the best performing commercial H.264 codec to date for the multi-channel, real time applications. Compared to x264 codecs, the picture quality is similar, but has extremely faster encoding speed. Depending on settings, Open264 encoding engine can encode up to 32 D1 channels at 30fps(real-time) at i5 750 CPU. Open264-SE supports color formats such as RGB32, YUV420 Planar, YUY2, YUV422 Packed, and UYVY. Open264-E supports YUV420 Planar only. The Open264 codec is cost competitive(Baseline profile) and is entirely GPL free.

Open264-SE additionally has a high speed image scaling function, high speed format conversion feature and multicore distributed processing feature to enable fast and easy encoding of the multi-channel H.264/AVC video files. 1.Scaled encoding function will save the processing power and time when you wish to encode a video feed to a certain different resolution regardless of the original video input. Up/down scaling of the image is possible. 2.Format conversion feature will save the processing power and time when you wish to encode a different video source such as RGB32, YUV420 Planar, YUY2, YUV422 Packed, and UYVY. 3.Multicore distributed processing feature enables using all of the CPU cores to jointly process one large resolution video in a very fast fashion.
