March Networks offers Theia’s ultra wide undistorted SL183 lens for use with new 5 and 3 megapixel cameras
Source: Wilsonville
Theia Technologies’ new 5 megapixel SL183 lens has been selected by March Networks, a global provider of intelligent IP video solutions, for use with its highdefinition(HD) MegaPX 5MP and MegaPX WDR fixed IP cameras. The 1.8 – 3mm focal range lens provides March Networks customers with an ultra-wide field of view option without distortion anywhere in the image, thanks to Theia’s patented Linear Optical Technology platform.

“Theia’s SL183 is an ideal lens choice for organizations with extensive field of view requirements, and the need to capture precise image detail,” said Fabrizio Colciago,Chief Technology Officer, March Networks. “We do extensive testing before recommending lens options to our customers and are confident that the SL183 is an excellent complement to the powerful capabilities of our newest HD MegaPX cameras.”

The SL183 offers a powerful combination of true megapixel resolution and IR correction in a compact envelope of only 50mm long. The IR corrected lens maintains its crisp, clear megapixel resolution image in IR illumination, making it perfect for use with the March Networks’ cameras, which come complete with removable IR cut filters for true day/night performance. And the EasyZoom feature allows the user to optimize the field of view with minimal need for refocusing. Theia will demonstrate the lens at the ASIS 2011 security exhibition in Orlando, FL, September 19 – 21, 2011 in booth #1864. March Networks will also demonstrate the lens working with its new cameras at the event in booth number #569.

The new SL183 lens leverages Theia’s Linear Optical Technology platform to offer an ultra
wide field of view without distortion in the flexibility of a varifocal model. The lens provides up to 115 degrees undistorted horizontal field of view (HFOV), providing the opportunity to cover more area with a single camera, potentially reducing the overall cost of system ownership. The award winning technology uses all optical distortion correction to remove barrel distortion without the use of software. Compared to typical wide angle lenses,Theia’s technology increases resolution at the edges of the image improving the ability to recognize subjects.
