Key Specifications
EdgeVis Live is our patented video codec technology. Originating from neural network research at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, the technology provides real-time video streaming over bandwidth-constrained or congested networks.

From the outset, EdgeVis Live has been designed to ensure video can be delivered over wireless networks with under 0.5 second latency. Unlike standards-based codecs such as H.264 and MJPEG which struggle with the variability of bandwidth on wireless networks, EdgeVis Live actively monitors the bandwidth at each instant and using this information adjusts the amount of image detail so that it never exceeds the bandwidth available to it. This enables a constant frame rate and avoids missed frames or a build-up in time delay. Uniquely, the technology can stream real-time video over wireless networks at under 9kbits per second.

EdgeVis Live offers great flexibility and control for mobile units and central command. Even when viewing remote video feeds on a mobile device, an operator is able to access HD images or PTZ the camera at source. As well as viewing real-time surveillance, a user is able to access footage recorded at the edge remotely and securely. Unlimited and secure redistribution of live video across Cellular/Wi-Fi networks for a joined up intelligence-led response.

EdgeVis Live enables ultra-reliable low latency streaming, users are able to input feeds from mobile assets to their preferred video management system; including native integration with Milestone XProtect. This offers simultaneous remote access, in the control room and in the field, to both live and recorded footage. Utilise remote low latency PTZ camera control from within your chosen VMS (includes VPTZ with compatible EdgeVis devices).
