Umbo Computer Vision
is presenting a cloud-based AI video solution to corporate security teams and central monitoring centers for reducing human-related false alerts and improving overall campus security. Integrating this solution into their security operations means that corporate security members can receive accurate human alerts from cameras installed in otherwise challenging environments. Users can access their alerts on Umbo’s SmartCloud platform, the UmboCV Android and iOS apps, or on integrated third-party platforms.
Previously there had been no efficient way to monitor live security events. The detection rates of human CCTV operators are less than 50 percent when monitoring as few as nine cameras at a time. Considering that organizations could have hundreds of CCTV cameras installed on their campuses, employing a team of human operators to monitor all those cameras is cost-prohibitive. Motion sensors and traditional intelligent video analytics packages are prone to high levels of false alerts or require too much initial setup. Due to these shortcomings, security teams simply left their cameras unmonitored –
looking at CCTV video footage only for historical reference rather than as an actual preventive measure. Umbo Light’s accuracy in human-related events –
fueled by its proprietary data set –
changes this equation and makes possible exciting new possibilities in security.
“Our goal is to create an autonomous video security platform that enables security teams of all types to better protect their people and property,” said Shawn Guan, CEO of Umbo Computer Vision. “Light is really exciting because it adapts quickly to different scenes and even different conditions within the same scene so small security teams can scale up their video monitoring to cover entire campuses. We hope teams will adopt it for the use of protecting their employees and property.”
Umbo’s Light AI has been deployed on over thousands of video camera streams to reduce nuisance false alerts stemming from lighting changes, weather, and the other common false alert triggers. It integrates with Umbo Computer Vision’s SmartCloud alert management dashboard and Learning Camera hardware to offer a seamless end-to-end experience.
