Twoway Communications embraces IoT
Many companies recognize the benefit of IoT but may not have the resources to integrate it into their system. IoT solution provider, Twoway Communications, came to Secutech 2017 to present their solution for a variety of end users.

Formed over 20 years ago, Twoway Communications help customized IoT platform for mainly telecom companies to offer it to their customers. The solution involves building up a cloud network that will connect to a gateway which in turn be attached to different sensors. These sensors can range from entry and motion sensors to smart light bulb and smart plug. Lyon Lai, Business Development Manager of Twoway Communications, said, “We focus on creating a software platform that can be integrated with hardware.” He continues, “Many hardware manufacturers may want to step into the IoT field, so we provide them the platform for their product.” Recently, Twoway integrated their IoT software with Amazon Echo, giving the end users the ability to control the sensors with their voice.

The solution can also be integrated into security purposes. “The security is based more on the surveillance system like CCTV. You can integrate it with other technologies like license plate recognition, facial recognition or access control,” said Lai. The data collected from these technologies will be transferred to a cloud datacenter and be sent to the appropriate group to determine the next step of action.

One region that is beginning to transition to more IoT solution is Southeast Asia. “We have branch offices in Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The demand from Southeast Asia is increasing and they are our main target at the moment,” said Lai. According to Lai, an important factor to consider when entering the Southeast Asian market is choosing the right partner. Lai mentioned that initially they try to enter the market by themselves, but realized there is a cultural difference they will need to learn. “We start to collaborate with partners in the region to help us enter into the market because they know the culture better. The partners already have different channels, so they just bring our solution to their channel,” said Lai.

Having a reliable partner helps Twoway Communications reach more end users and continue in the IoT trend.
