Cost-effective Thermal Imaging Solution in Emerging Markets

Source: Global Sensor Technology
Date: 2022/07/12
Thermal imaging technology is moving toward more intuitive, economical, standardized and intelligent benefits.

Recently, Global Sensor Technology (GST) launched a micro iLC212 thermal module with 256×192 resolution and 12μm pixel size, which meets the SwaP3 requirements. It is a more economical option and popular in consumer electronics. Let’s see how it's applied to emerging markets.

1.Budget- friendly

Utilizing GST self-developed 256×192/12μm wafer-level-packaging (WLP) infrared detector, the micro iLC212 thermal imaging module provides the customer with a volume production, fast delivery and budget-friendly solution. With its technology is relatively mature, various types of wafer-level-packaging infrared detectors and thermal modules by GST have been successfully integrated in various infrared cameras and systems.

2.Optimal SWaP

The iLC212R thermal imaging module is designed to be lightweight overall with the size is as low as 21mm×21mm×12.8mm (including 3.2mm lens), and the weight is as low as 8.6g (waterproof version is as low as 13g), which is friendly for applications with strict size requirements.

With 3.2mm and 7.0mm lenses to choose from, if you want to view close-up scenes with wide-angle, the 3.2mm lens is better; while the 7.0mm lens is best to detect long-distance targets.

3.Fast Integration

Providing 30Pin_HRS standard external interface, expandable Type-C interface, Windows/Linux system SDK, it is easy for customers to start rapid integration with the iLC212 thermal imaging module.
Also, with advanced image algorithms such as NUC/3D/2D/DRC/EE/SEFC, and various digital video formats output like RAW/YUV/BT656, the iLC212 thermal module guarantee more sharp and smooth thermal images.

Upgraded Version

With its lens waterproof with IP67 protection level, the performance of iLC212 thermal module remains unchanged during rainy and foggy days. It also offers temperature measurement function with range of -20°C~150°C, and accuracy of ±3°C or ±3%.

By integrating thermal imaging module into traditional intelligent hardware devices, Internet, Internet of Things, AI and other data platforms, the infrared thermal imaging technology is widely used in emerging consumer electronics markets, such as security monitoring, commercial fields, unmanned systems, vehicle assistance, wearable devices, smart home etc.
