The many benefits of ccHDtv expounded
Currently, many users with an existing coaxial cable infrastructure still hesitate to migrate fully to IP, due to its higher cost and configuration difficulties. Against this backdrop, ccHDtv presents a good alternative for delivering HD digital signals over the coaxial cable.

Needless to say, security has more and more migrated to IP. However, many users with their existing coaxial cable infrastructure still hesitate to migrate fully to IP, due to its higher cost and configuration difficulties. Against this backdrop, ccHDtv presents a good alternative for delivering HD digital signals over the coaxial cable.

That’s the message that Fuho Technology, proprietor of the Vacron brand, wanted to get across during a Taipei security event held by Messe Frankfurt on August 30.

ccHDtv transmits digitized video signals over the user’s legacy coaxial cable, sparing them the need to replace their existing coaxial infrastructure with IP, a move that is both costly as well as labor-intensive. With ccHDtv, all users need to do is change the devices on the front and back ends.

Yet, the benefits of switching to ccHDtv go beyond that. Compared to IP, which transmits over a distance of 100 meters, ccHDtv enables a much longer transmission distance. “Even without a booster, we can transmit HD video over a distance of 800 meters without degradation,” said Morgan Lan, CEO of Fuho.

Another benefit is that in ccHDtv, a coaxial cable can support as many as 16 cameras, each channel with a bandwidth of up to 31.6 Megabits per second. “It’s got enough bandwidth to transmit HD signals from multiple cameras,” Lan said.

During the exhibition, Fuho displayed its various ccHDtv solutions, including 4K cameras. According to Lan, due to ccHDtv’s long-distance transmission capability it’s ideal for large sites. “Golf courses and military outposts are examples where ccHDtv is especially suitable,” he said.

Fuho’s ccHDtv products can be found in different places across the globe. “In Taiwan we work with our SI partners in various projects. Outside Taiwan, we sell to China, APAC, Europe, and North America. Overseas, we work with local distributors who then sell the products to SIs,” Lan said.

In addition to ccHDtv, Fuho also had on display its vehicular on-board solution as well as IP cams with intelligence in them.

The onboard solution consists of a camera capable of transmitting video back to the command central via 3G or 4G. The video can then be stored or analyzed at the backend. The solution is ideal for fleet operators who need to track or check on their drivers.

The IP cameras, meanwhile, come with 2K and 4K models and have video analytics embedded in them. “The analytics can detect, for example, an object that is moving when it's not supposed to, or when an object that has been present suddenly disappears,” he said. “This is especially suitable for schools and factories.”
