This remarkable video server is equipped with a digital-signal processor, which enables image and audio processing algorithms to be run inside the video server, rather than in a central location. This allows for more scalability when executing embedded intelligent-video applications because only necessary data is transmitted for action.
"A natural extension of Axis' existing network-video technology is the concept of Intelligent Video," said Lee Oh Tee, general manager, Axis Communications, South Asia Pacific. "This new area has already generated early interest as it provides value-added solutions. People counting and traffic monitoring are examples of applications that will become available as Axis continues to develop cost-effective Intelligent Video products to meet these needs."
The Axis 242S IV will be available separately or bundled with the Axis IVM120 People Counter, a software module designed for indoor-object counting. The video server is an open platform that Axis Application Development Partners can use to create their own intelligent video or audio applications. The Axis 242S IV bundled with the Axis IVM120 will be available through Axis' South Pacific distribution channels from end of May 2006.
