Continuing the series of thematic news about the technologies used in the equipment of Partizan brand, today we introduce the autofocus technology to you.
First, let’s pay our attention to autofocus technology itself.
Autofocus is a system that automatically focuses camera lens on one or more subjects. It usually consists of control system sensor and actuator that moves lens barrel or its separate lenses. To designate autofocus the AF abbreviation is commonly used.
2 main types of autofocus - active and passive – are distinguished, read more about them below.
Active autofocus got its name due to the presence of auxiliary elements, such as ultrasound or infrared radar. They calculate the distance to the object on which the lens focuses using echo location or triangulation.
Active systems have several disadvantages, including the inability to focus precisely if there is a transparent obstacle, such as glass between the object and the lens.
In this regard, active systems have given way to more modern – passive ones. Passive autofocus is based on the analysis of light beams entering into the camera and does not radiate anything into the environment. First such a system was introduced by a well-known manufacturer of cameras in 1970. Modern passive autofocus systems are based on measuring the contrast in the image generated by lens, or by comparison the opposing portions of light beam forming the point image. These technologies are called contrast and phase autofocus.
The principle of operation of contrast autofocus is that camera’s microprocessor compares the contrast of fine details of the image produced on camera’s sensor.
Phase autofocus due to its technological capabilities can be applied only to certain types of cameras. It enables splitting light beams into two parts, and with the help of auxiliary equipment producing the focus.
With this we will consider a long theoretical block complete, although a lot of things can be described, including work on hybrid autofocus, focus mode and drives.
Now we will pay our attention to the really interesting equipment. Namely - new Partizan IP cameras with autofocus.
The line of Partizan IP cameras with autofocus includes 3 models – IPD-VF2MP-IR AF, IPO-VF2MP AF and IPO-VF2RP AF.
The cameras are similar in their technology but differ in specifications.
Partizan IPD-VF2MP-IR AF is a dome camera in a rugged vandal-resistant metal housing with IP 66/IK10 ingress of protection. It is designed for outdoor installation with the range of temperature operation mode from -20° to +55°C. It is equipped with high-quality Full HD 1/2.8" Sony Ultra sensor and supports the Onvif protocol and PoE technology (optional). The focal length of camera lens is 5-50 mm. Built-in IR LED excels at distances up to 20 m.
Similar in specifications is PartizanIPO-VF2RP AF camera. This outdoor IP camera in a rugged metal case with IP 66 ingress of protection is equipped with a durable anti-vandal 3-axis bracket. The camera has the same high-quality 1/2.8" Full HD Sony Ultra sensor, supports the Onvif protocol and lens with focal length of 5-50 mm. But the built-in IR LED has several advantages. First, the lights of IPO-VF2RP AF have an automatic adjustment depending on the level of lighting, and secondly variable angle of IR LED, the distance makes complete 100 m.
Completes our list PartizanIPO-VF2MP AF – an outdoor IP camera in a rugged metal case with IP 66 ingress of protection with a durable vandal-resistant bracket. It is equipped with the familiar 1/2.8" Full HD Sony Ultra sensor, lens with a focal length of 2.8-12 mm and supports Onvif protocol. Camera’s IR LED has the range of up to 40m, and operating temperature range is from -40°C to +60°C.
