Genetec’s Security Center 5.0 Supports RF Code Asset Management Solution

Date: 2011/08/09
Genetec, a pioneer in the physical security industry and a provider of world-class IP security solutions, announced today that Security Center now offers a software plugin for RF Code’s Asset Manager solution. The Asset Management Plugin will allow users to add asset monitoring and reporting capabilities to their current Security Center access control and video solutions. This new Security Center plugin also give users the ability to tightly monitor valuable assets and see exactly what is happening in case an incident occurs.

RF Code provides an active RFID-enabled infrastructure for both real-time asset management and environmental monitoring across the entire enterprise. RF Code’s Asset Manager solution integrates various RF Code tags and readers, and provides instant information about asset locations and movements. From within the Security Center, users can now monitor asset locations and events in real-time, run historical reports, respond to asset-related alerts, and manage other data from the RF Code Asset Manager solution. Operators can also view video attached to asset events and alerts which provides them with the all important video verification of all asset-related activity. Asset-related alerts are consolidated within the Security Center’s alarm management task, ensuring operators can view and respond to asset-related alarms using the same Security Center client interface used for their access control, video, and intrusion detection systems. Users can also generate Security Center reports related to asset location and movements; these include a report detailing the current location of tracked assets, a report providing a historical review of asset-related events and activity, and an alarm report with all asset alerts. Configuring the Asset Management Plugin is also simple and efficient; once configured, the Security Center will connect to the Asset Manager and then automatically import and synchronize RF Code assets.

“Our goal with the Security Center has always been to provide our customers with a single unified platform from which to monitor their security and safety systems. Through our new partnership with RF Code and this new Security Center plugin, customers can now add asset management to the list of systems monitored from within one platform,” said Jimmy Palatsoukas, Senior Product Manager at Genetec.

Using active RFID as the enabling technology to automate asset monitoring, RF Code solutions eliminate the traditionally-costly, time-consuming and inaccurate asset and environmental monitoring process. RF Code’s Asset Manager works in conjunction with RF Code’s tags and readers, providing up-to-the minute information about asset locations, movement, security and environmental status, without requiring any manual labor to gather this information.

“Asset security is a key component of an overall security strategy and asset management is a key process that ensures that added level of protection,” said Chris Gaskins, RF Code Vice President, Product Development. “Today’s announcement demonstrates how, working together, Genetec and RF Code have made it easy for customers to have that layer of asset protection leveraging their existing IT investment.”
