The recovery in the world machine vision market is gathering pace, according to IMS Research. The company monitors the progress of this market quarterly, and produces a tracker report that consolidates revenue data from major suppliers.
"The market appears to be recovering faster than previously forecast," said John Morse, the Managing Analyst at IMS of the tracker service. The North America market grew the most between the third and forth quarter of 2009; but there was good growth also from both EMEA and Asia Pacific.
"Figure 1 shows that the low point was the first quarter in 2009 and revenues have grown each subsequent quarter," Morse said. "If this trend continues, the market will be back to its 2008 levels by 2011."
