Hypercom announced that Dirk Rossmann, one of the top three drugstore chains in Germany, has selected and will deploy 5,000 hybrid payment terminals in its more than 1,000 retail outlets throughout the country. The rollout began two weeks ago and is expected to be completed in the middle of 2011.

"We are singularly focused on creating the best possible shopping experience for our customers, and we are doing that with Hypercom’s hybrid payment terminal," said Achim Wellmann, IT Director for Dirk Rossmann. "Hypercom is a leader in electronic and digital transactions, and the addition of their products is a win-win for our customers and our company."

"Leading retailers demand high speed, high performance payment products that expedite the fast and secure transmission of vital transaction data, and that is exactly what Hypercom delivers," said Peter Vesco, Managing Director, Northern Europe at Hypercom. "Dirk’s selection of Hypercom speaks to our products' competitive advantages and strengthens our footprint in this important market."

Some 250,000 hybrid terminals have been deployed in Germany alone. The high security product features a single-slot hybrid card reader and secure integrated PIN pad for magnetic stripe and chip card transactions.
