Panasonic's  contribution of four splash-resistant outdoor network cameras to the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" TV show is providing newfound security and peace of mind to a family in Buffalo, New York.

Panasonic provided four splash-resistant outdoor network cameras for the Powell family's new home. Now the Powells can monitor their home anytime, anywhere on a cell phone or computer via a secure Internet site. These impressive cameras detect motion, sound, and shock and when any sensor is triggered, instantly send an e-mail alert or save an image to the built-in memory or an optional SD card. They also feature an advanced chipset enabling fast video streaming so users can view high-quality images.

The network cameras are a key part of a complete home automation system donated to "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" by Control4, a provider of affordable IP-based home control and entertainment systems, and installed in the Powell family's new home by Buffalo-based integrator Sound and Theater. As with other Panasonic network cameras, some cameras can be used with or without home automation systems and have a built-in server, so it is not necessary to keep a computer running for the camera to function.
