Firetide, a provider of wireless infrastructure mesh networks, announced that SimplexGrinnell has added Firetide wireless mesh products to its Integrated Security product portfolio. With the growing need for wireless mesh technology in the areas of integrated security, emergency communications and life safety, Firetide's established track record for developing reliable and cost-effective solutions for wireless security and surveillance provides SimplexGrinnell with access to a supplier of wireless technology and products.

"Firetide provides SimplexGrinnell with wireless technology that is secure, scalable and modular, all of which are important to our customer base, especially in the area of integrated security and video,” said Tom Giannini, CPP, Director of Security and Emergency Communications Marketing at SimplexGrinnell. “We see wireless mesh networking as a game- changing technology. With Firetide's products along with our integrated security experience, we see an opportunity to deliver unique and powerful security solutions to our customers.”

When wired networking infrastructure is not available to support security and surveillance, wireless is often the only logical choice, especially compared to trenching, which is considerably more expensive. In terms of investment, the advantages of wireless networks are significant: initial capital and operating expenses can be much lower than the total investment for a similar wired infrastructure.

On the operational side, video surveillance systems require a great deal of flexibility, and wireless networks offer advantages that wired systems can't match. A wireless system can transport real-time wireless video, voice and data from just about any location. Cameras can be installed in buses or trains, fixed on buildings, repositioned, added or replaced, and there's no need to disrupt day-to-day operations.

"We're excited to have the opportunity to work with SimplexGrinnell in the areas of integrated wireless video surveillance, access control and life safety,” said Bo Larsson, CEO of Firetide. “Firetide's high-performing wireless infrastructure mesh has already proven itself in large-scale deployments for public safety agencies in Chicago, Dallas, Denver, St. Paul, among others, and we are pleased to be working with a systems integrator such as SimplexGrinnel in markets where our product lines excel.”
