Secutech closes after three-day innovation showcase of video security, access control and smart applications

Secutech remains one of Asia’s foremost security shows, with Taiwan Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim visiting the show at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center on its closing day. Her visit focused on major Taiwanese brands in the security space, as well as solutions providers for critical infrastructure and railway safety.
 
Video security dominated the showground on all three days, reflecting the large number of Taiwanese manufacturers in that space. Once the hub for video security, Taiwan and its brands continue to offer innovative solutions for various application scenarios, alongside key component suppliers and OEM manufacturing.
 
Synology, a brand well-known for its storage solutions, specifically NAS, showcased an increasingly comprehensive lineup of video security devices and solutions. Redefining itself as a software-centric company, its proprietary VMS runs mainly on NAS solutions, supporting third-party and own-brand cameras.
 
At Secutech, it showcased the BC800Z Camera with edge AI capabilities, which can, for example, handle ALPR workloads and people counting with zero latency or any risks posed by unstable connections. The rest of its lineup can perform the same functions, using the compute power of Synology NAS. Third-party integrations continues to play a large role at Synology, enabling legacy and other existing cameras and brands to perform to the same standard as Synology edge devices.
 
At its booth, the company also highlighted the FC600 Fisheye Camera, optimized for people counting. A cloud solution and a microSD card lineup for edge AI cameras is soon to be released, giving Synology customers an additional option to upgrade and manage their systems as hybrid infrastructures.
 
 
icatch is a brand that had a significant market share in video security back in the days when cameras were analogue and their signals were transmitted through closed circuits. Taiwanese manufacturer Definitely recently acquired the brand name and resurrected it to offer cutting edge solutions, with a full lineup of IP cameras, DVRs and NVRs, a proprietary VMS, access control devices and a cloud-bridge solution.
 
Its VMS is optimized for diverse people recognition functions, enabling users to flag persons or create business intelligence. Each person passing through the scene can be identified based on gender, age and other attributes. To enable people search, it is integrated with ChatGPT, which serves as the conversational business intelligence user interface. This also enables functions that users can customize according to their needs. Employers can, for example, keep record of when workers have manned a work station.
 
icatch’s vision is to enable employers to keep attendance records without the involvement of any access control system.
 
Those systems, however, are also part of the portfolio of icatch, which showcased two new readers featuring facial recognition, fingerprint, RFID and mobile credential integration.
 
Under the “Made-in-Taiwan” label, the company has penetrated overseas markets in the US, Europe, Japan and Singapore.
 

Access control highlights

While video security dominated, some brands showcased innovations predominantly in the access control and smart building/smart home spaces.
 
A brand that straddles both areas is maxsys. The local manufacturer showcased four new solutions based on its trusted intercoms. They included maxlink, which integrates up to five door control panels with two-way audio and IP camera integration, an all-integrated control panel for smart homes and smart delivery storage.
 
maxsys solutions are designed with the specific needs of the Taiwanese users in mind, but through distribution partners and Sis, the company has also penetrated the US and Israeli markets.
 
Another company that’s moving into the smart building space is Klacci, which is known for RFID-based electromagnetic locks. At Secutech it showcased new, easier app integration, enabling hospitality businesses, for example, to create user profiles and give temporary credentials to guests by importing them from other platforms.
 
For larger scale projects, for example in education, Klacci is increasing the scale of project-based installations and adding new functions, most recently real-time lockdowns for emergency scenarios.
