A&S recently spoke with Philippe Ouimette, Strategic Partnership Director at Genetec where he introduces their company’s new partnership with Dell and Intel to produce and ship Streamvault units in Asia. Genetec Streamvault is the company’s line of turn-key hardware appliances that come prebuilt with its VMS, Security Center.

“You can call it Streamvault 2.0” says Ouimette, “Streamvault devices have been available in Asia for some time and were manufactured and sourced in North America.

Our new partnership with Dell and Intel means we now assemble, finish and test the devices through the Dell factory in Malaysia, and Dell images the software on the device directly. This provides a new, more streamlined model that is enhanced by Dell’s on-site hardware support and logistics across the region”.

Streamvault has a wide range of solutions, suitable for many configurations, from one small scale to large scale enterprise or government projects. According to Ouimette, most of the interest and traction so far has been with clients who favor cybersecurity, standardized installation and need long term life cycle support for the product. These have mainly been cities and governments, airports, critical infrastructure, data centers and law enforcement agencies. “This benefit comes into play when you have many locations. Using Streamvault, it is easy to repeat the installation process in each location. This means that you can also standardize support, giving you an advantage over a situation where 3 different integrators deploy 3 sites for the same client, with each one installing Genetec, but not in exactly the same way, which can cause problems down the road” he explained.

Genetec hardware solutions are designed with cyber security, standardization and ease of use in mind. “The rational is to allow our customers to consume our software in a more efficient way. Streamvault is a key vehicle in achieving this goal” explains Ouimette.

Streamvault offers several key advantages compared to a commercial off the shelf server, mainly: ease and consistency in set up (as all the units are pre-imaged in the factory) a pre-hardened version that delivers better cyber security and a system that is designed to deliver efficiency. “We have over 200 unique configurations including tier 1, machine-learning powered heuristic anti-virus from to ensure a pre-hardened, cyber secure systems online or offline right out of the box. This translates to 10 to 11 hours of work saved for the integrator configuring and securing the system. The system is also designed to do more with few servers, and in smaller size or form factor 225 percent better performance than commercial servers”. Streamvault also comes with a five year warranty and next day service, compared to a standard 3 year warranty on standard, off-the-shelf appliances.

Ouimette emphasizes the eco system of partners that came to build this solution: Genetec, Dell and intel as one of the key differentiators “The trust in our ecosystem and supply chain of partners, is important for us, and that is why we chose to partner and develop this product with company’s like Dell, with their industry leading supply chain resilience protocols to create products in a way that won’t compromise cyber security”.

Genetec has introduced the new Streamvault in APAC beginning the end of July, focusing first on Japan, Korea, India, Australia and New Zealand and South East Asia.
